Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pick me, Pick me.... I'm a Daisy :) Ok, Daisy by name and not by nature, but a darn sight cuter! I've had a rough start to life, I was a stray on the streets of San Antonio for the first part of my life, but I was so happy to be picked up and then rescued and stay with my foster family. I cannot recall most of those hard months on the street, but I know I still LOVE people! Give me a couple of mins to sniff you and get a feel for you and then we are fast friends and my butt will be wiggling non stop for you. As I am still young and was a stray I am working really hard on learning lots of new things and I am loving it cos I love to get ... (Read More)treats! I love my people, they come in different sizes which means I have to play according to their size. I love my chew toys and those ones that squeak, and I have lots of young energy so I am a big fan of running and playing. I sure hope you like to run and play too? I am so happy that I now live with people and not on the streets, I am ready for my very own forever family, I think I will just be the luckiest and happiest girl around when I get one :) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-11-00127Valero (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The following are some of the comments my foster angel Mum has sent about me: 'Valero is a complete and total sweetheart. While most of the time he has a calm and gentle demeanour, he can also be a bit of a spitfire when it comes time to play. He really just wants to spend time with his human and dog pack. That is definitely his life's highest goal'. 'He is ok with some cats, others are for chasing. He loves all dogs, but some may have a problem with him. While he definitely understands socialization with humans, he can really miss the ball when it comes to other dogs. Other dogs can be sure to let him know he is the biggest dork they have ... (Read More)ever met!' 'His bestfriend Benny is probably the first dog friend he has ever had in his life, and he is super duper attached. I suspect that he spent quite a bit of time alone', 'With the use of his favourite treats he has learned: not to jump up on people, to sit for treats, affection and food, and in general, how to understand and respect personal boundaries' 'He has an incredibly calming and soothing presence, he just really wants to be around his person/people.' 'He is always up for a leashed adventure and he enjoys retrieving balls, rope and just about any toy - but only for a few minutes at a time' 'When he sits for attention and you put your arms around him he just turns into warm butter'. 'He is very potty trained now (thank you fancy meat treats for providing incentive) but he should be crated when no one is home. He does very well when he goes out in public and enjoys making new friends everywhere he goes'. 'Valero still needs some training but that is ok because you can teach him what you want him to know and he is a speedy learner' 'He is a really sensitive guy and he responds very well to positive reinforcement. He is also incredibly endearing. It is impossible not to love him if you have spent any time with him. Valero is an excellent little dog' - Valero's foster Mom Doesn't this guy sound amazing? We don't usually just quote the foster directly, but when the foster gives us so much information and clearly loves the dog - it just seems right. They know the dog better than anyone. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-05-00060Amber (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there, my names is Amber but you have the green light to come ask about me! I am looking for my forever home that will tick all the boxes, maybe your boxes and mine are the same? I am a very happy and playful young pooch, kinda still a big puppy (but without the annoying parts) I love playing outside and running around in my big yard. Oh and I LOVE water, I get so excited when I see it cos I just want to jump in and play.. do you like water? I love the smell of wet people - then I know you like to play in the water too :) All that excitement does get tiring though and so I do like to relax and watch the birds and the squirrels in ... (Read More)the garden. I like to imagine them playing with me, but thus far, they NEVER want to play? I am a really good girl and walk nicely on the leash for you and I am happy to go into my crate - but honestly, don't leave me in there too long cos I miss you. Speaking of you, I would prefer to have you all to myself, so if I could be your only furry BFF that would be nice. I love people but I prefer my people bigger - please no little kids, they can be too overwhelming for me. So if you're stuck on Amber - I give you the green light to go for it!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-04-00069Dom (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dom is a sweet, shy 2-yr old male yellow lab mix weighing approximately 50 lbs. Dom is an incredibly gentle boy, but spent a lot of his young life fending for himself in the woods. Once rescued, this timid fellow quickly learned people can be good and he started to enjoy working for cookies. Dom was hoping to be filtered into a service dog training program because he showed such a great sense of bonding to his new trainer. But his natural instinct is to protect his surroundings and warn off intruders. Dom is good with kids, gets along well with male/female dogs of all sizes, but his temperament around cats is not known. He is going to make ... (Read More)someone a fabulous loyal companion and watchdog. He is learning to walk on a leash and currently has a local sponsor who has gifted him with additional training to make him even more adoptable and ready for a loving forever home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-04-00068Coco (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Coco is a docile, friendly 45-lb 6-yr-old tan female lab mix whose owner has passed away and is in need of a new loving home. Rescued as a puppy along with her fur brother Marty, she has always been loyal to her people and likes to protect the house, but is also always ready to play and eat, too. When she first saw grass on a sunny day, she sat like a little sphinx in the sunshine. Kennel-trained and leash-trained, Coco is used to being outside, but would love to become an indoor-outdoor dog. While her owner was still living, Coco would go on long treks and hiking adventures and yearns for the chance again. Initially shy when first meeting ... Rescue Me ID: 17-12-04-00065Marty (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Marty is a super loving, mellow 90-lb 6-year-old black lab mix, whose owner has passed away and is in need of a new home. Rescued as a puppy along with his fur sister Coco, Marty has a Zen attitude, at times choosing affection over a treat (not always but often!). Since he was a puppy, he'd grab his food bowl by the teeth and move it to a more private location---he still does that on occasion. Initially shy when first meeting you, Marty is good with people of all ages, including kids, but has not been exposed to cats. He loves the water, loves to swim, and while his owner was still living, would go on long treks and hiking adventures along ... (Read More)with his fur sister, Coco. Marty had a partial ACL tear repaired in January 2015, but is otherwise healthy and ready for a great home with love, fun, and tlc. Kennel-trained and leash-trained, Marty is used to being outside, but would love to become an indoor-outdoor dog, and would take to curling up at your feet like an old hand, for sure! Who could resist those eyes! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-09-00374Red (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Though my name is Red, I prefer to be called 'Bubba Red'... it seems more endearing to me. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a big softie... I will bark to let you know someone is at the house, But that is actually all I do. Once you and I get bonded I am your guardian for life, I will stick by you and sometimes have a hard time being without you. There are things that scare me though out in the world - big trucks, skateboards, bikes, basically anything that moves fast. I wish I could explain to my foster angel why but she is really helping me learn not to be fearful of fast moving things. I love people, (did I mention I will be your ... (Read More)guardian for life?). I've met big people and some medium sized people... I prefer the bigger people, only because the smaller the get the faster they seem to dart around!! I love getting petted but sometimes flinch with a sudden touch; like I said, I wish I could explain what happened to me when I was younger that makes me flinch but my foster angel seems to understand and so I flinch less as I know they are gentle touches I am getting. I have never been aggressive, I love my people too much, and unless there is a dog that is trying to scare me or I feel might threaten you or I, I love them too. I am basically a big softie (THERE! I said it) with a heart of gold encased in a beautiful red body looking to find my forever people.... Is it you??? (Less)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I usually go by Charles, but seems everyone wants to call me Charlie. I'm fine with that if it means people pay me attention! Though they tell me I am German Shepherd, I'm pretty sure it's not much because I'm pretty small coming in at only 40-45lbs. Now don't let that smallness fool you, I will keep you safe by letting you know when people arrive, though I will be the first in line for cuddles and love because I LOVE people. If you are people, simple... it means I love you! I like dogs and cats and little people and big people and walking nicely by your side, and of course - food! I love being with my foster Mom but I heard you can ... (Read More)adopt your own humans, so I am really looking for a forever human to adopt. I've told you a little about me, and my requirements for my human are pretty simple; love me and treat me like your baby and I will not ever give you up to a shelter -PROMISE! (Less)
